Filament temperature chart: print, bed and drying
JustCreate3D ·
On this page:
PLA prints at 190–235 °C with the bed at 40–60 °C, PETG at 230–255 °C with the bed at 70–85 °C. Dry PLA at 45–55 °C for 3 to 8 hours and PETG at 60–65 °C for 4 to 8 hours.
Updated: November 2026
Below are the values for every filament we sell, by material and brand. Each has one starting temperature for a 0.4 mm nozzle. The maker’s full range is in the data sheet on the product page. If a print goes wrong, change the temperature in 5 °C steps.
An asterisk (*) means the maker gives no drying value, so we list the usual value for that material. A dash (–) means we have no value; ask us.
Sources: makers’ data sheets and printing guides, the Fillamentum (10/2023) and Spectrum drying tables.

At what temperature should you dry PETG?
Dry PETG at 60–65 °C for 4 to 8 hours. Spectrum gives 60–65 °C for 4 hours, Fillamentum 65 °C for 4 hours, Bambu Lab 65 °C for 8 hours, Polymaker 65 °C for 6 hours. Do not go above the maker’s value.
At what temperature should you dry PLA?
Dry PLA at 45–55 °C for 3 to 8 hours. At higher temperatures PLA deforms, which is why Fillamentum gives 50 °C as the maximum. The exceptions are 3DXTech ESD PLA and CarbonX PLA+CF, for which the maker gives 65 °C.
How do you tell that filament is wet?
Wet filament crackles while printing, strings, and leaves bubbles and a rough surface on the print. Fillamentum adds weaker layer bonding, lower strength and a clogged nozzle. If you see this, dry the filament and try again.
Does a new spool need drying?
For sensitive materials, yes. Fillamentum rates the need to dry from 1 (not needed) to 5 (always). PLA, PETG, nylon, TPU and PC/ABS are rated 5, ABS 2, HIPS and PP 1.
What should you do with the spool after drying?
Let it cool in a sealed box with silica gel. According to Fillamentum, a hot spool in humid air picks up moisture again in about 10 minutes. Do not leave it in a dryer that is switched off either.
