Flexfill PEBA 90A | Fillamentum

This type of flexible filament has different properties than the regular TPE, TPU filament you might be used using. Based on polyether-block-amide, PEBA was specially developed for use with 3D printers. Although it is flexible with hardness 90 Shore A (equivalent to 42 Shore D), it exhibits different thermal, mechanical, and chemical behavior than the other Flexfill filaments (TPE/TPU). It is resistant to cyclic loading without getting damaged and has a high energy return, and still has the lowest density of all the Flexfill filaments. These properties can be leveraged in the production of custom-made shoe outsoles or ski-boots outsoles. PEBA excels in very low-temperature resistance, where its mechanical properties are reliable until -60°C!

How to store filaments

Humidity and UV light can decrease the filament quality and weaken its mechanical properties. We strongly recommend storing open filaments in a dry and dark place. You can find a complete guide on how to properly store your filament here

Where to throw print fails and supports?

We kindly ask our customers to cope with plastic waste responsibly. Failed prints, support material, rafts, or brims should be liquidated according to the local guidelines. Paradoxically, in most cases, it is better to throw this waste in the regular trash can, as most of the material waste created in 3D printing is not identified, which causes more problems than benefits in the waste sorting facilities.

Fillamentum recommends using Magigoo PA as an adhesive (it is not a mistake, as PEBA contains amide) and we don't recommend printing on PEI surfaces. Regarding cooling, the more you cool, the more brittle the final part will be.

Features:

  • Excellent mechanical properties
  • Flexible even at low temperatures
  • High reversible deformation
  • Rebound resilience preserved also at low temperature (down to -60 °C)
  • Great chemical resistance, for mention against car fluids (gasoline, diesel, oil, ...)
  • Resistant to cyclic loading without obvious damage
  • High energy return, low hysteresis
  • Tear resistance
  • The lowest density from flexible filaments
  • Recyclable, BPA free
  • Low fumes released
  • Safe for food contact applications (declaration sent per request)
  • Safe to use in electrical and electronic equipment

General information about PEBA :

This type of flexible filament has different properties than the regular TPE or TPU filament you might be using. Based on Poly(ether-block-amide), PEBA was specially developed for use with 3D printers. Polyamide (aka nylon) is a hard hydrophilic segment that is responsible for higher mechanical strength. On the other side polyether is a soft hydrophobic part that gives flexibility. Thus, it offers a balanced combination of mechanical strength, breathability, flexibility, chemical resistance, and ease of processing.

Printability of PEBA filament

Fillamentum recommends using Magigoo PA as an adhesive (it is not a mistake, as PEBA contains amide) and we don't recommend printing on PEI surfaces. Regarding cooling, the more you cool, the more brittle the final part will be.

PEBA mechanical and thermal properties

Although it is flexible with hardness 90 Shore A (equivalent to 42 Shore D), it exhibits different thermal, mechanical, and chemical behavior than the other flexible filaments (TPE/TPU). It is resistant to cyclic loading without getting damaged and has a high energy return, and still has the lowest density of all flexible filaments. These properties can be leveraged in the production of custom-made shoe outsoles or ski-boots outsoles. PEBA excels in very low-temperature resistance, where its mechanical properties are reliable until -60°C! PEBA has a great chemical resistance, for mention against car fluids (gasoline, diesel, oil, ...)

Tips and other notable benefits

  • Recyclable, BPA free

Fillamentum

Fillamentum is a Czech manufacturer of premium 3D printing filaments, known for a very wide colour range and unique shades. It is a favourite of makers who care about the look of their prints, and it also offers technical materials such as CPE, nylon and flexible grades. JustCreate3D keeps a broad Fillamentum selection in stock in its warehouse in Senec, Slovakia, and dispatches orders quickly.

Based in Czechia, Fillamentum is one of the trendsetters of the 3D printing material industry. It exports to more than 62 countries and has more than 15 years of experience in plastics processing. Its filaments come on transparent spools, so you can always see how much material is left.

Who is Fillamentum for?

Choose PLA Extrafill when colour and surface quality matter – for models, prototypes and decorations. CPE HG100 is a tougher, easy-to-print alternative to PETG for functional parts. The Flexfill range covers flexible parts from soft to semi-rigid, and the nylon grades suit wear-resistant mechanical parts; remember to dry nylon before printing.

Frequently asked questions

Where is Fillamentum made?

Fillamentum is a Czech brand. Its filaments are exported to more than 62 countries around the world.

What is CPE HG100?

CPE is a copolyester related to PETG. It was developed for users who want more toughness than PETG while keeping easy printing with no warping.

Which Flexfill should I choose?

The number in the name is the Shore hardness: the lower the number, the softer and more elastic the part. Flexible filaments print best slowly, ideally with a direct-drive extruder.
