Vinyl 303 | Fillamentum

Vinyl 303 is an easy-to-print technical filament manufactured from polyvinyl chloride (PVC) which is a widely used plastic among other industries. Thanks to its great properties, this is a great choice for functional prototyping, spare parts, or printing objects for everyday use but be aware that while printing Vinyl 303, toxic fumes might be emitted during printing. Please be sure to follow the safety recommendations included in the 3D printing guide below. Vinyl 303 is reserved for advanced 3D printing users. Do not use a steel nozzle while printing but a brass nozzle. The steel may corrode.

How to store filaments

Humidity and UV light can decrease the filament quality and weaken its mechanical properties. We strongly recommend storing open filaments in a dry and dark place. You can find a complete guide on how to properly store your filament here

Where to throw print fails and supports?

We kindly ask our customers to cope with plastic waste responsibly. Failed prints, support material, rafts, or brims should be liquidated according to the local guidelines. Paradoxically, in most cases, it is better to throw this waste in the regular trash can, as most of the material waste created in 3D printing is not identified, which causes more problems than benefits in the waste sorting facilities.

Features:

  • Flame retardancy is given by its chemical structure (naturally without additives, although we do not have any UL94 test result or certificate for this, Fillamentum claims that it meets the V0 benchmark)
  • Excellent chemical resistance to oils, salts, solutions, and water
  • Functionality, toughness, rigidity
  • Great hardness and mechanical properties
  • High impact resistance
  • Low warping
  • Low moisture absorption
  • High density

General information about Vinyl :

Vinyl filament is made from PVC (polyvinyl chloride), one of the most widely used plastics in industry. Fillamentum Vinyl 303 combines toughness, hardness and natural flame retardancy with low warping, which makes it a good fit for functional prototypes, spare parts and everyday objects. Because PVC can release toxic fumes during printing, it is reserved for experienced users with good ventilation. It ships from our warehouse in Senec, Slovakia.

Properties of Vinyl 303

  • Flame retardant by nature – given by the chemical structure, without additives. Fillamentum states it meets the V0 benchmark, but there is no UL94 certificate.
  • Chemical resistance to oils, salts, solutions and water.
  • Hard and tough – Shore hardness 78D, high impact resistance and rigidity.
  • Easy to handle – low warping and low moisture absorption.
  • High density of 1.35 g/cm³; Vicat softening temperature 71 °C.

Print settings

  • Nozzle about 220 °C, bed about 80 °C.
  • Part cooling 0–50 %.
  • Print speed 40–60 mm/s.
  • Enclosure recommended, together with good ventilation or fume extraction.
  • Use a brass nozzle, not steel – steel may corrode.
  • Drying: 70 °C for 2 hours.

Typical uses

Functional prototypes, spare parts, everyday objects and parts that come into contact with oils, salt solutions or water.

Pros and cons

  • Pros: tough and hard, flame retardant without additives, chemically resistant, low warping.
  • Cons: toxic fumes may be released while printing, steel nozzles may corrode, recommended for advanced users only.

Frequently asked questions

Why should I print Vinyl 303 with a brass nozzle?

Fillamentum warns that steel nozzles may corrode when printing PVC, so a standard brass nozzle is the right choice.

Is it safe to print PVC at home?

Only with good ventilation, ideally an enclosure with fume extraction, and following the safety recommendations in the manufacturer's printing guide.

See Vinyl filaments in stock. If you need a tough, chemically resistant material that is easier to print, compare PETG.

Fillamentum

Fillamentum is a Czech manufacturer of premium 3D printing filaments, known for a very wide colour range and unique shades. It is a favourite of makers who care about the look of their prints, and it also offers technical materials such as CPE, nylon and flexible grades. JustCreate3D keeps a broad Fillamentum selection in stock in its warehouse in Senec, Slovakia, and dispatches orders quickly.

Based in Czechia, Fillamentum is one of the trendsetters of the 3D printing material industry. It exports to more than 62 countries and has more than 15 years of experience in plastics processing. Its filaments come on transparent spools, so you can always see how much material is left.

Who is Fillamentum for?

Choose PLA Extrafill when colour and surface quality matter – for models, prototypes and decorations. CPE HG100 is a tougher, easy-to-print alternative to PETG for functional parts. The Flexfill range covers flexible parts from soft to semi-rigid, and the nylon grades suit wear-resistant mechanical parts; remember to dry nylon before printing.

Frequently asked questions

Where is Fillamentum made?

Fillamentum is a Czech brand. Its filaments are exported to more than 62 countries around the world.

What is CPE HG100?

CPE is a copolyester related to PETG. It was developed for users who want more toughness than PETG while keeping easy printing with no warping.

Which Flexfill should I choose?

The number in the name is the Shore hardness: the lower the number, the softer and more elastic the part. Flexible filaments print best slowly, ideally with a direct-drive extruder.
