Nylon CoPA 6/6-6 180°C Resistance | Polymaker™

PolyMide™ CoPA is probably the easiet to print Nylon availaible on the market. Designed with ease of printing in mind, this filament has outstanding thermal properties with a heat resistance up to 180°C.  CoPA is based on a copolymer of Nylon 6 and Nylon 6,6. It is recommended to anneal your PolyMide™ CoPA 3D printed model to ensure a good heat resistance of your printed part. Annealing settings: 80˚C for 6h

How to store filaments

Humidity and UV light can decrease the filament quality and weaken its mechanical properties. We strongly recommend storing open filaments in a dry and dark place. You can find a complete guide on how to properly store your filament here

Where to throw print fails and supports?

We kindly ask our customers to cope with plastic waste responsibly. Failed prints, support material, rafts, or brims should be liquidated according to the local guidelines. Paradoxically, in most cases, it is better to throw this waste in the regular trash can, as most of the material waste created in 3D printing is not identified, which causes more problems than benefits in the waste sorting facilities.

Brass nozzles may become damaged by PolyMide CoPA when used in large quantities. We advise switching to a hardened steel nozzle or another wear-resistant nozzle when using PolyMide CoPA. Bear in mind that Nylon filaments are highly hydroscopic. If you hear popping sounds and notice that the surface quality of your print is uneven or the color is not consistent, the filament has certainly absorbed too much moisture.

It is highly recommended to use the PolyBox™ when printing with PolyMide™ CoPA and to store it in the resealable bag with dessicant when not in use.

General information about Nylon :

PA (polyamide) describes a group of polymers with an amide repeat unit. Generally in the FDM industry, there are 3 main types of PA which include PA12, PA66, and PA6.

Sometimes these materials can be either grafted with other polymers or else reinforced with glass or carbon fibers. Generally, nylons exhibit high strength, toughness, elasticity, wear resistance, chemical resistance, and thermal resistance and are widely sought in various industrial applications.

Nylon filaments prove to be challenging materials for FDM printing due to their lower
adhesion to conventional 3D-printing build surfaces and their higher tendency to warp.
Furthermore, there are several classes of PA filaments each behaving differently.

Polymaker™

PolyMaker is a premium quality 3D printing filament manufacturer. They're known for "hacking" 3D printing materials where their materials overtake any competition. With 7 registered technologies, their 3D printing filaments widen the range of applications of any desktop 3D printer. One of the most interesting is PolySmooth's layer-free technology, where when combined with the Polysher, you can obtain a perfectly smooth and perfectly layer-free print. Recently, PolyMaker decided to lower its impact on the planet and released PolyTerra™, an ecological breakthrough among filaments, where the filament, the package, and the spool are biodegradable. In addition, a tree is planted for each sold filament!

Material Comparison Chart

A comprehensive and extremely valuable resource provided by PolyMaker is the comparison chart. The chart is a true goldmine allowing easy comparison between materials with each mechanical and thermal property. It also includes data about the ease of printing.

Print Profiles

On Polymaker's download page you can find print profiles for most commercial 3D printers like Prusa, Flashforge, Raise3D, Ultimaker, Lulzbot.. also tweaked for different slicers, like Prusa Slicer, Cura or even IdeaMaker.
