How to store filaments

Humidity and UV light can decrease the filament quality and weaken its mechanical properties. We strongly recommend storing open filaments in a dry and dark place. You can find a complete guide on how to properly store your filament here

Where to throw print fails and supports?

We kindly ask our customers to cope with plastic waste responsibly. Failed prints, support material, rafts, or brims should be liquidated according to the local guidelines. Paradoxically, in most cases, it is better to throw this waste in the regular trash can, as most of the material waste created in 3D printing is not identified, which causes more problems than benefits in the waste sorting facilities.

ABS-T | Filament-PM

ABS-T is an advanced compound material combining ABS and MMA (Methyl methacrylate). The benefits from this combination are enhanced thermal (up to 98°C) and mechanical properties.

The colors are shinier than regular ABS as the MMA compounds are transparent (MMA is a product derivated from PMMA, also known as plexiglass). This material is suited for more advanced 3D printings users.

General information about ABS :

ABS filaments were among the first, together with PLA, to enter the 3D printing material industry. As it was known for its good mechanical and thermal properties by the plastic industry, this material is not well suited for the 3D printing industry because of its bad printability. A popular use case of ABS was its ease of g postprocessing with acetone fumes. This dangerous and hazardous process can now be avoided by combining PolySmooth (PVB) filaments with isopropyl alcohol (and optionally the Polysher machine).

Printability of ABS filament

ABS is a hard-to-print material, and to be honest, there is almost always a better alternative to ABS. In the past years, PETG has been rapidly taking over ABS as it is much easier to print with and features similar mechanical properties. Printing ABS requires an enclosure, a strong adhesive, and a very hot hotbed (at least 100°C). ABS tends to warp a lot, and therefore we recommend printing only smaller parts. ABS cannot be cooled, as cooling drastically increase the warping effect and lower its interlayer adhesion, effectively lowering the printed parts' mechanical properties.

ABS mechanical and thermal properties

ABS has a typical thermal resistance of around 85°C and (if printed correctly) provides strong mechanical properties. Although, with the same printing gear and setting, much more advanced materials like PolyCarbonate or Nylon can be printed, which feature drastically better mechanical properties.

Tips and other notable benefits

Printing with ABS releases toxic and smelly ABS fumes. We don't recommend printing with ABS in a home environment. Printing with ABS filaments should be done in an air-filtered chamber or well-ventilated room.

Filament-PM

Filament-PM is a Czech filament manufacturer with a wide and still growing range of materials, from everyday PLA and PETG to flame-retardant, ESD and fibre-reinforced engineering grades. It suits beginners and professionals alike. JustCreate3D keeps a large selection of Filament-PM in stock in its warehouse in Senec, Slovakia, and dispatches orders quickly.

Filament-PM was among the first producers of 3D printer filament, starting back in 2013. It is an official partner of PRUSA Manufacturing: the printed parts of the Prusa MK2 and MK3 printers were made from Filament-PM PETG. Today eight production lines run day and night. The company also watches its ecological footprint – its factory runs on renewable energy and it produces recycled filament from its own plastic waste.

Who is Filament-PM for?

Beginners will appreciate the reliable PLA and PETG; makers looking for something special can try the metal, marble or wood finishes. Engineers get a wide choice of flame-retardant (V0), ESD and carbon or glass-fibre reinforced materials from a single manufacturer.

Frequently asked questions

Is Filament-PM PETG suitable for Prusa printers?

Yes. Filament-PM is an official partner of PRUSA Manufacturing, and the printed parts of the Prusa MK2 and MK3 printers were made from its PETG.

What is the difference between PLA and PLA+?

PLA+ is Filament-PM’s modified version of PLA. How it differs from standard PLA is described in detail in each product description.

Does Filament-PM make recycled filament?

Yes. RePLA+ and RePETG are made from the manufacturer’s own plastic production waste, so they are a simple way to print more sustainably.
